Chris Monty was born on the west end of Long Island’s Nassau County. At an early age he began entertaining at family parties and holiday gatherings. Inspired by Red Skelton, Rodney Dangerfield and George Carlin as a child, Chris began telling jokes, doing impressions and even singing and dancing anytime he had a captive audience. But it wasn’t until he was in his mid twenties that his show business career truly began. After being a student of Stand-Up University (a comedy class taught by veteran comedian Peter Bales) he became a regular at open mics, firehouse shows and fundraiser’s around the tri-state area. Earning his way up the ranks of the stand-up comedy ladder.
Now Chris Monty is one of New York’s busier comedians. Along with being a regular at New York’s best comedy clubs, Chris is a terrific actor and has be seen in the comedy film “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” and on the HBO series “Vinyl”, as well as the Netflix series “Orange Is The New Black” and the Amazon Prime series “Red Oaks”. He just recently filmed an episode of “Kevin Can Wait”.
You may also recognize him from his appearance on AXS channel’s “Gotham Comedy Live” or any of his many roles in t.v. commercials. He was also featured in the PBS documentary “The Business Of Comedy”. He has made his presence known on the stage as well in the hit Off-Broadway comedy “Shut Up, Sit Down & Eat” that he also co-wrote. The play was nominated for Best Original Show by the Off Broadway Alliance.
Along with previously opening for Joan Rivers, B.B. King, The Duprees, and Johnny Maestro & The Brooklyn Bridge, Chris headlines in such places as Atlantic City, Las Vegas and Reno.
