SUMMARY:The History of Rock and Roll Salutes Motown
DESCRIPTION:Motown legends\, THE CONTOURS! Over a half-century later\, under the direction and leadership of Joe Billingslea this legendary group continues to shake ’em down. During their distinguished careers\, THE CONTOURS have entertained tens of millions of fans and have sold millions of records along the way. They are ranked as one of the top 500 R&B artists of all time according to “Top R&B Singles 1952-1995” compiled from Billboard Magazine’s charts. \nIn the 1960s\, the group charted eight hits\, including Motown’s first million-seller and its fastest-rising hit of all time\, “Do You Love Me.” In 1988\, after the release of the movie\, “Dirty Dancing”\, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. \nWith\nOne of Motown Records’ earliest and most exciting vocal groups\, Martha and The Vandellas achieved two Top Ten hits before the ascendancy of The Supremes. Driven by Martha Reeves’ soulful\, brassy lead vocals\, the Vandellas became Motown’s earthier\, more aggressive “girl group” alternative to the Supremes. Performing hits such as: “Heat Wave”\, “Dancing in the Street”\, “Nowhere to Run” and many more!! \nAnd\nThe son of soul legend Jackie Wilson\, Bobby Brooks Wilson. Bobby began as a Jackie Wilson and Stevie Wonder Impersonator. Bobby was nominated for a Grammy in 2015 for his hit single\, “I Can’t Love You Anymore” that peaked #10 in the Adult Contemporary Charts as well as his hit “I Get the Sweetest Feeling”\, which peaked #10 on the Top 40 Adult Counterparty Charts in 2014. \n

SUMMARY:Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky
DESCRIPTION:Featuring:\nThe South Shore Symphony\nDavid LaMarche\, Guest Conductor \nTchaikovsky had great respect for the conventions of writing for ballet\, but his ballet scores\, of which Swan Lake was the first\, are also masterpieces of orchestral writing. Of course\, the ballet was meant to accompany the power of the music which is often subsumed in the beauty of the dance. This concert will provide an opportunity to enjoy this music for its own sake. \nWith his revolutionary score\, The Rite of Spring\, Igor Stravinsky created an unforgettable musical panorama of primitive Russia and its intimate and sometimes savage relationship with nature. Maestro David LaMarche\, the highly acclaimed conductor of the world renowned American Ballet Theatre\, brings the experience of countless performances with the most famous ballet dancers of our time to create his own unique interpretation of these great works.

SUMMARY:John Pizzarelli
DESCRIPTION:A portion of your ticket will be donated directly to raise funds for HELP Primary School – HELP Uganda. \nTo donate please visit: help-uganda.com \n \nJohn Pizzarelli\, is a world-renowned guitarist and singer\, hailed by the Boston Globe for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook and re-popularizing jazz.” The Toronto Star pegged him as “the genial genius of the guitar.” And the Seattle Times saluted him as “a rare entertainer of the old school.” \nEstablished as one of the prime contemporary interpreters of the Great American Songbook\, Pizzarelli has expanded that repertoire by including the music of Joni Mitchell\, Neil Young\, Tom Waits\, Antônio Carlos Jobim and Lennon-McCartney. His themed shows\, often performed with his wife Jessica Molaskey\, suggest there is no limit to Pizzarelli’s imagination or talent. \nThe next step is introducing the solo work of Paul McCartney to his audience through his September 18\, 2015 release on Concord Records\, Midnight McCartney\, and on stages around the world. The challenge\, Pizzarelli says\, is lining up the lesser-known McCartney songs alongside the works of Gershwin\, Berlin and Rodgers. \n“It’s not out of the realm to say\, ‘Here are some excellent songs. What you just enjoyed and maybe thought was Johnny Mercer\, is really Paul McCartney.’ I think they can all stand next to each other.”
