SUMMARY:Molloy Performing Arts Club Presents: Grease
DESCRIPTION:Molloy Performing Arts Club presents… Grease! \nThe 1978 hit film starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton John is brought to the Madison Theatre stage by MPAC\, featuring Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: the duck-tailed\, hot-rodding boy gang called the “T-Birds” and their gum-snapping\, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers. This rollicking musical evokes the look and sound of the 1950’s\, recalling the music of Buddy Holly\, Little Richard\, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new “good girl” Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights”\, but they struggle to cross clique lines. The cast sings and dances their way through classics such as “Greased Lightnin’”\, “We Go Together”\, “Born to Hand-Jive”\, and “You’re the One That I Want”. An eight-year run on Broadway\, two subsequent revivals\, along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.

SUMMARY:Mary Calvi – If a Poem Could Live and Breathe
DESCRIPTION:On The Road Book Events presents Mary Calvi\nIf a Poem Could Live and Breathe: A Novel of Teddy Roosevelt’s First Love \nStudded with the real love letters between a young Theodore Roosevelt and Boston beauty Alice Lee—many of them never-before-published and long-believed destroyed—If a Poem Could Live and Breathe makes vivid what many historians believe to be the pivotal years that made the future president into the man of action that defined his political life\, and cemented his legacy. \nCambridge\, 1878. The era of the Gilded Age. Alice Lee sets out to break from the norms of her mother’s generation. Women are fighting for educational opportunities and exploring a new sense of intellectual and personal freedom. Native New Yorker\, Harvard student Teddy Roosevelt\, is on his own journey of discovery\, and when they meet\, unrelenting currents of love change the trajectory of his life forever. \nIf a Poem Could Live and Breathe is an indelible portrait of the authenticity of first love\, the heartache of loss\, and how overcoming the worst of life’s obstacles can push one to greatness never imagined. \nMARY CALVI is a 12-time New York Emmy award-winning journalist and national anchor for WCBS-TV and weekend anchor of Inside Edition. Her in-depth research for her debut book\, DEAR GEORGE\, DEAR MARY: A Novel of George Washington’s First Love\, is the basis of a Smithsonian Channel documentary. \nEach ticket includes a signed copy of Mary’s newest book If a Poem Could Live and Breathe: A Novel of Teddy Roosevelt’s First Love. \n*This event will be held in the Larini Room\, on the 2nd floor of Molloy University’s Public Square Building*
