Hello dear readers. I tend to have a lot of curiosity about my fellow human beings, especially those who have talents that I don’t. That is why I was excited at the opportunity to speak to some of the wonderful performers who will be appearing in the Madison Theatre Christmas show. One of the people I got to interview was Claire Mercier. It was lovely to meet her and to find out more about her. Without further ado, let’s get into the interview.

What is your favorite thing about performing?

“The feeling that it gives me, that rush of satisfaction and seeing that same reaction from the audience.”

What’s your favorite role or performance you’ve done?

“Jane in Jane Eyre.

What inspired you to start in the theater?

“Well initially my mom just took me along to an audition they needed kids at. She was auditioning as well. After that first show, I never wanted to stop.”

What is your dream role?

“Sophie in Mamma Mia.

What are you looking forward to the most about performing in the Christmas show?

“Getting everyone in the holiday spirit in the best way with song and dance.”

How is Long Island/New York different from your home in Vermont?

“It’s the exact opposite. I live on a farm without a neighbor for a mile at home. Here everything is close together and there are a lot more people. But it’s all exciting.”

Who is your favorite actor/actress? What is your favorite movie?

“My favorite movie is Definitely Maybe. Elizabeth Banks and Isla Fisher are both my favorite [actresses.]”

What is your favorite Christmas song?

“I really love “’I’ll Be Home For Christmas’.”

And that’s all, dear readers. I hope you enjoyed reading this interview as much as I enjoyed giving it. Look forward to more exciting interviews with performers in the Christmas show coming up soon!
