Swingin’ the Great American Songbook

Back by popular demand, Madison Theatre’s 20-piece house band shines the spotlight on this treasure trove of music which originated on Broadway or in Hollywood.  Beginning in the 1920s, this rich catalogue was built by master craftsmen including the Gershwins, Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, and Richard Rodgers, among many others.

Led by Steve Shaiman, Swingtime’s high-power presentation features recreations of classic recordings by Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, and Stan Kenton, featuring a special 80th anniversary commemoration of the end of WW II.  Also, Swingtime’s engaging singers salute such iconic vocalists as Ella Fitzgerald, Lena Horne, and Frank Sinatra, along with a 100th birthday tribute to the legendary Sammy Davis, Jr.
