ALL THE WRONG MOVES:
How Three Catastrophic Decisions Led to the Rise of Trump
By Anthony Scaramucci

ALL THE WRONG MOVES: How Three Catastrophic Decisions Led to the Rise of Trump [Holt; September 22, 2026; 9781250437563; $29.99; hardcover] isn’t a campaign memoir or an attempt to relitigate Anthony’s 11 days in the Trump White House. Instead, it an argument that the current crisis in American government was not created by one man but by thirty years of choices made by presidents and legislators of both parties. “This book, in other words, is not about right and left,” Scaramucci writes. “It’s about right and wrong.”

Within the pages of ALL THE WRONG MOVES, Scaramucci argues that today’s political and economic divisions were built over time through decisions made by leaders in both parties, from China’s entry into the WTO without meaningful worker protections to the Iraq War and the government’s response to the 2008 financial crisis. Whether readers agree with every conclusion or not, the book is intended to spark debate about accountability, institutional failure, class, and why so many Americans lost faith in the people and systems that were supposed to serve them.

Just as importantly, Scaramucci doesn’t exempt himself from that conversation. He writes candidly about ambition, ego, loyalty, overconfidence, and what he learned from one of the most public career implosions in modern politics. Rather than asking readers to overlook his mistakes, he examines them as part of a broader argument about leadership, resilience, and the importance of course correcting when you’ve gotten it wrong.

ALL THE WRONG MOVES isn’t just about how we got here; it offers ideas of how we get out. Scaramucci proposes five policies: rethinking monopoly, scrutinizing large mergers, building a fairer tax system, using tariffs surgically, and rejecting blunt across-the-board tariffs. He also proposes three constitutional amendments: election spending reform reversing Citizens United, making gerrymandering unconstitutional, and making federal investigations and prosecutions independent of the president. “We can’t go on having the hubris to rely on norms,” he writes. It is a sharp, surprising critique that cuts through partisanship and challenges readers on the left, right, and center to reclaim what the American dream was always meant to be.
