Hello dear readers. As you may know, I love reading. So it is always a surprise when I learn about an author I hadn’t read or heard of before. I admit, I hadn’t heard of Wally Lamb until now. So I did what people often do when they don’t know information about someone or something: I went to Google. One Internet search later, and I think I have somewhat of an idea on who Wally Lamb is. He is obviously a talented author. And his latest book, I’ll Take You There, which he will be talking about and signing while he is here at the Madison Theatre, sounds quite interesting.
The novel tells the story of Felix Funicello whom the ghost of Lois Weber, a movie director from the silent film era, visits. Lois takes Felix on a journey through his own life and allows him to reflect on the women who have had the largest impact on it. Sounds like my kind of book! While looking through the reviews on Goodreads, I found that many reviewers resonate with Wally Lamb’s portrayal of female characters. According to them, his female characters are very well written and realistic, which is always nice. I’ve added this book to my ever-expanding list of books to read. I would recommend that you do the same, dear readers. And why not go meet the author and hear about his characters for yourself? The price of the book is included in your ticket so go, get a good book, and enjoy listening to a wonderful author speak about writing. You won’t regret it!
