Molloy Performing Arts Club presents… Grease!
The 1978 hit film starring John Travolta and the late Olivia Newton John is brought to the Madison Theatre stage by MPAC, featuring Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: the duck-tailed, hot-rodding boy gang called the “T-Birds” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers. This rollicking musical evokes the look and sound of the 1950’s, recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new “good girl” Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights”, but they struggle to cross clique lines. The cast sings and dances their way through classics such as “Greased Lightnin’”, “We Go Together”, “Born to Hand-Jive”, and “You’re the One That I Want”. An eight-year run on Broadway, two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world’s most popular musicals.
