Hello dear readers. I tend to have a lot of curiosity about my fellow human beings, especially those who have talents that I don’t. That is why I was excited at the opportunity to speak to some of the wonderful performers who will be appearing in the Madison Theatre Christmas show. One of the people I got to interview was Sammi Messina. It was lovely to meet her and to find out more about her. Without further ado, let’s get into the interview.

What is your favorite thing about performing?

“Having the luxury of sharing an immersive experience with a group of people, friends and strangers alike, both onstage and off. Just feeling and living with other people for one beautiful, entertaining piece of time.”

What’s your favorite role or performance you’ve done?

“From a musical, Millie Dillmount from Thoroughly Modern Millie. My other one is from a play: Gwendolyn Fairfax from The Importance of Being Ernest.

What inspired you to start in the theater?

“My mom’s whole side of the family was involved in theater their whole life so I was pretty much immersed in it from the moment I was born and fell in love with it through the guidance of my family.”

What is your dream role?

“Wednesday Addams from The Addams Family Musical. Eponine from Les Miserables. Nancy in Oliver. Velma Kelly in Chicago.”

What are you looking forward to the most about performing in the Christmas show?

“Just being able to share the whole show as an ensemble. We’ve all done so much together. We’re all fairly close. It’ll be fun to put on something for everyone that we’re going to enjoy and we know everyone else will enjoy.”

What made you choose Molloy/CAP 21?

“I had heard of CAP 21 when I was younger but hadn’t really remembered it until I auditioned in a blanket audition at SETC and I got a call back for CAP21. Ricky Oliver won me over and sold me. He made it everything I always dreamed it would be.”

Who is your favorite actor/actress? What is your favorite movie?

“Krysta Rodriguez and Julie Andrews. My favorite movie is Titanic.

What is your favorite Christmas song?

“‘The Gift’ by Garth Brooks.”

And that’s all, dear readers. I hope you enjoyed reading this interview as much as I enjoyed giving it. Look forward to more exciting interviews with performers in the Christmas show coming up soon!
